Domain .KYOTO Delegated

Domain .KYOTO established for the presentation of the Kyoto city on the Internet has been recently delegated. Domain Sponsor – KCGI (The Kyoto College of Graduate Studies for Informatics) compares domain launch with the birthday of the city that can be figuratively called as CyberKyoto.

KCGI enjoyed support not only from the Kyoto government, but from the Tourism Commissioner in Japan, President of the Kyoto University and some other well-known Japanese institutions. The domain launch is also supported by the association, which includes 1600 IT companies of the country.

The mission of the new domain is to promote Kyoto brand in the international arena, create a space people and companies in Kyoto can be proud of, assist in free competition and development of technologies. The TLD Sponsor accredited Neustar company as the Registrar. UrbanBrain Company and Iron Mountain became partners in launching the domain. Domains registration in such TLD will first be available for trademark owners.

Japan has quite an abundance of city domains. The pioneer was .NAGOYA. .YOKOHAMA and .TOKYO TLDs are also functioning there – these three TLDs are being supported by GMO Registry. .OKINAWA domain has been delegated too.
